DIOCESE OF EAST ANGLIA YEAR FOR PRIESTS 2009/10 Calendar of Prayer Pope Benedict XVI declared a “Year for Priests” to run from June 2009 until June 2010. It is a time of thanksgiving and celebration for the gift of the Ordained Priesthood . The pope also declared St John Vianney to be the universal Patron of Priests on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of the Curé d'Ars. From Sunday 28th February you are invited to pray for our diocesan priests ministering within and outside of our diocese. We have also included those from Religious Orders working in the diocese We have extended the time of prayer and celebration to run up until the ordination of Michael Collis and Luke Goymour in our Cathedral on 10th July.

Father, you have appointed your Son Jesus Christ eternal High Priest. Guide those he has chosen to be ministers of Word and Sacrament and help them to be faithful in fulfilling the ministry they have received. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. AMEN. --------------------------------- God our Father, we thank you for all our priests. We entrust them to your care. Help them in the challenges and difficulties they are faced with. Guide them in their ministry, and keep them faithful to their calling as pastors of your flock and stewards of your kingdom. Amen. ---------------------------------- In a special way, I pray for those priests through whom I have received your graces. I Pray for the priest who baptised me and for those who have absolved my sins, reconciling me with You and with your Church. I pray for those priests whose Masses I have participated in and who have given me your Body and Blood as nourishment for the Journey of life. I pray for those priests who have shared your Word with me, and for those who have helped me and led me to you. Amen.
